Nose augmentation

What is rhinoplasty? A deep dive into everything you need to know before transforming your look!

In achieving a well-proportioned and sculpted face, the nose is the most important focal point. Many people may be wondering what rhinoplasty actually is, what the safest methods are, and why so many choose to consult at JR Facial Hospital. Today, we have all the answers for you in one place.

What is rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure to reshape the nasal structure, altering its shape, size, or form to better complement the face. This includes procedures such as increasing the height of the nasal bridge, lifting the tip of the nose, or correcting a crooked or deviated nose. Besides improving aesthetics, it also boosts self-confidence in daily life.

Popular nose augmentation techniques today.

At Chamroon Clinic, we prioritize the individual needs and physiques of each person, dividing our main techniques into:

Closed rhinoplasty: This procedure involves making an incision inside the nostril. It's suitable for cases requiring nasal bridge elevation with silicone implants. Advantages include a small incision, faster recovery, and no visible external scarring.

Open rhinoplasty: An advanced technique that allows the doctor to see the entire nasal structure. Suitable for revision cases or those with complex structural problems such as a high nasal hump or a large nasal tip.

Using cartilage from behind the ear: This involves using the patient's own tissue to support the tip of the nose, resulting in a softer, more natural shape and reducing the risk of future complications such as perforation.

How to prepare before deciding to get a nose job?

  1. Avoid vitamins and supplements: At least 1-2 weeks before surgery.

  2. Inform your health history: Tell your doctor in detail about any pre-existing medical conditions or allergies to medications.

  3. Prepare yourself and allow sufficient time: permitting approximately 3-7 days for recovery to allow facial swelling to fully subside.

"Safe beauty is the most worthwhile investment." At Chamroon Clinic, we care for you like family, from the first step of your consultation until the day you feel confident with your new look.

Post-operative care

- Apply a cold compress or cold pack to your forehead for about 2-3 days to reduce pain and swelling.

- Sleep on your back with your head elevated during the first week.

- Eat a normal diet, except for spicy food, alcohol, and cigarettes for the first two weeks. If you had rhinoplasty (alar reduction surgery), avoid snacks as much as possible. Don't talk or laugh too much, as this can cause the wound to reopen.

- Avoid washing your face for 7 days; wipe your face with a cloth instead.
- Take medication as prescribed by your doctor. In cases of rhinoplasty using the nasal wing or cartilage from behind the ear, your doctor will prescribe injections. Come for these injections 3 days after the surgery.

- Be careful to avoid bumps or impacts, and keep your distance from pets until their noses have healed, approximately 1-3 months.
- If you experience any abnormal symptoms such as pain at the tip of your nose, swelling, redness, excessive warmth, or persistent nosebleeds, seek medical attention immediately.

What is Open Septum Extended Graft (SEG) Rhinoplasty?

A Deep Dive into Structural Reconstruction for Lasting Results

Modern rhinoplasty has evolved far beyond simply placing a silicone implant on the nasal bridge. The key to a beautiful, stable, and long-term safe result lies in "Nasal Tip Structural Management." The international gold standard for achieving this is Open Rhinoplasty with Septum Extended Graft (SEG).

1. Understanding Open Rhinoplasty

Open Rhinoplasty involves a small incision across the columella (the tissue between the nostrils). This allows the surgeon to fully "open" and visualize the entire internal structure of the nose. Unlike the "Closed" technique, this approach provides maximum precision for analyzing and correcting cartilage and internal tissues.

2. What is a Septum Extended Graft (SEG)?

The Septum is the internal midline wall of the nose, acting as its primary support pillar.

The Septum Extended Graft (SEG) technique involves using cartilage (harvested from the nasal septum itself or costal/rib cartilage) to "extend" or reinforce this pillar. Think of it as adding a foundation pile to a house. This allows the surgeon to sculpt a tip that is more projected, refined, or elongated without relying on the pressure of a silicone implant.

3. Why Choose the SEG Technique?

In the past, achieving a high nasal tip often required long silicone implants that reached the tip, posing a high risk of thinning the skin or protrusion (piercing). SEG offers superior advantages:

  • Safety First: By using your own natural cartilage to build the tip, the risk of implant protrusion is nearly 0% because there is no foreign object pushing against the skin.

  • Total Customization: Ideal for those with a "Short Nose" or "upturned" (piggy) nose, as it allows the surgeon to physically lengthen the nasal structure.

  • Structural Stability: Tips built with SEG are incredibly durable and resistant to drooping or shifting over time.

  • Aesthetic Perfection: Results look and feel natural. You avoid the "sharp" or "unnatural" look often associated with old-school silicone tips.

4. Who is the Ideal Candidate?

  • Individuals desiring a "Barbie Line" profile but who have thin nasal skin.

  • Those with a short, upturned, or "piggy" nose structure.

  • Patients seeking Revision Rhinoplasty to fix issues caused by previous fillers or traditional silicone implants.

  • Anyone looking for a permanent, sustainable beauty solution who wants to avoid repeated corrective surgeries.
